Rockies Trail and Cruise to the Glaciers
The majestic vistas, expansive protected parklands and western Canadian culture combines with an unforgettable Alaskan Cruise up the Inside Passage on a captivating 17-day coach and cruising tour. The relaxed lifestyle of the Alberta ranchlands give way to the national parks of the Rocky Mountains, teeming with wildlife amidst spectacular and unique geography. The high mountains of Whistler and the Coastal range are the gateway to the historic streets of Vancouver, followed by the ‘green city’ of Seattle. Boarding a comfortable, full service Norwegian Cruise Line ship (Norwegian Jewel), sail north through the dramatic scenery of the Pacific Northwest coastline. With ports of call at several Alaskan destinations such as Ketchikan and Juneau with optional shore excursions and incredible sights such as the towering cliffs of the Sawyer and Hubbard Glaciers, this cruise provides a true sampling of the wonders of Alaska. 
Day 1 - ARRIVAL IN CALGARY 
Arrive at Calgary International Airport. Individual transfer to your centrally-located hotel. After a check-in the remainder of the day is free. The tour director will contact you in the late afternoon to give details on joining the tour. Explore the Old West at the Glenbow Museum or Fort Calgary on your own, browse through the Eau Claire Market, ride up the Calgary Tower for a great view and savour the great restaurants and dynamic nightlife. Overnight in Calgary.

Day 2 - CALGARY TO BANFF NATIONAL PARK 
We begin the day with a city tour of Calgary. Leaving the city, we travel west on the Trans-Canada Highway into the rolling foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The majestic peaks of the Canadian Rockies soon fill the horizon as we approach Banff National Park, our first of several in the Canadian national parks system. We soon arrive in the charming resort town of Banff. Overnight in Banff. Continental breakfast included.

Day 3 - BANFF NATIONAL PARK 
Today we will enjoy a tour of the region around Banff. The area became Canada’s first national park in 1885 to protect its natural hot springs. An optional Helicopter Sightseeing Tour will give you the chance to see the eastern ranges of the Rocky Mountains. Alternatively you can take an optional gondola ride to spectacular Sulphur Mountain. Bring your camera! The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the surroundings of Banff, stroll along Banff Avenue, or relax and enjoy the scenery. Overnight in Banff. Full breakfast included.

Day 4 - BANFF NATIONAL PARK TO JASPER NATIONAL PARK
Today’s journey through Banff and Jasper national parks promises to be a highlight of our Rockies Trail programme. Shortly after leaving Banff we visit the famous scenery of Lake Louise, one of the most photographed lakes in Canada. Afterwards, we travel north on the famed Icefields Parkway through a rugged wilderness flanked by dramatic mountain ranges. At the Columbia Icefield we board a specially constructed Ice Explorer to ride on the surface of the ancient Athabasca Glacier. Close to Jasper, you have the chance to go on an optional raft trip on the Athabasca River. Your experienced guide will point out the natural and human history as you raft through short rapids and stretches of calm waters. Overnight in Jasper. Full breakfast included.

Day 5 - JASPER NATIONAL PARK TO SUN PEAKS 
Before leaving Jasper National Park this morning you can take part in an optional Spirit Island Cruise on Maligne Lake, the most picturesque and largest glacier-fed lake in the park. You may alternately take an optional motorcycle tour of Jasper, riding in the comfortable sidecar with an unmatched view of the forests and mountains. Then, we travel west along the Yellowhead Highway and into the heartland of British Columbia. Breathtaking, unspoiled vistas await visitors in every season of the year. The route takes us along the Thompson River through the picturesque Shuswap Highlands. Overnight in Sun Peaks. Full breakfast included.

Day 6 - SUN PEAKS TO WHISTLER 
We can expect a day of dramatic scenery changes when we drive through the ranch lands and head for the coastal mountains. A journey along the Duffey Lake Road exposes new vistas at every turn. An optional Floatplane Sightseeing Tour over Garibaldi Park gives you an inspiring view of a natural preserve of volcanic peaks, alpine lakes and meadows. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Day 7 -  WHISTLER TO VICTORIA 
The Sea-to-Sky Highway leads us south through spectacular coastal scenery today. From Horseshoe Bay, we cruise by ferry across the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island and continue by coach to Victoria, British Columbia\'s capital city. Arriving in Victoria, we embark on a city tour of this former British enclave. Overnight in Victoria. Full breakfast included.

Day 8 -  VICTORIA 
Proud of her maritime heritage, Victoria has retained a quaint, colonial demeanour evident in the many 19th century landmarks throughout the city. Today we treat ourselves to a tour of the world famous Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s great floral displays set in a reclaimed stone quarry. Time will be allocated here for browsing through the regal gardens. You can take part in an optional Floatplane Sightseeing Tour over downtown Victoria and the Strait of Juan de Fuca with the Olympic Mountains in the distance. You can also go on an optional Whalewatching Excursion aboard a Zodiac or a regular vessel. Watch for the magnificent orcas and the abundance of marine wildlife. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the city’s delights. Overnight in Victoria. Continental breakfast included.

Day 9 - VICTORIA TO VANCOUVER
We continue through the resort region of the Gulf Islands to the oceanside city of Vancouver. Upon arrival in Vancouver, we enjoy an interesting tour of the city, including Stanley Park, English Bay, Gastown, Chinatown, and much more. The remainder of the day is free for independent exploration or simple relaxation. This evening features our farewell dinner party at the Capilano Suspension Bridge with a welcome from First Nations carvers. Overnight in Vancouver. Continental breakfast and dinner included.

Day 10 -  VANCOUVER TO SEATTLE / ON BOARD SHIP 
Today after breakfast you transfer from Vancouver and travel south across the Canada/United States border into Washington state and its bustling capital, Seattle. Checking in to the arrivals desk on board, you settle in for an evening at shore aboard ship. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the restaurants, lounges, pools and other available amenities. Overnight on board ship. Continental breakfast and dinner included.

Day 11 -  CRUISING THE INSIDE PASSAGE
As the ship sets sail and departs for its leisurely journey up the Pacific coast, spend some time in one of the viewing lounges to watch the subtle changes in the shoreline as it transitions into the more rugged and broken combination of rock and old growth timber characteristic of the northwest. Overnight on board ship. Full board included.

Day 12 -KETCHIKAN
This first port of the cruise is the small village of Ketchikan. Taken from the aboriginal Tlingit Iname, Kach Khanna (spread wings of the eagle), the area is known for its high concentration of nesting eagles. Spend some time on deck and chances are you will see one of these magnificent birds perched atop a Sitka tree. Thanks to its abundant rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some of the world’s most lush wilderness. Overnight on board ship. Full board included.

Day 13 - SAWYER GLACIER / JUNEAU
Today we cruise to the cliffs of the Sawyer Glacier towering above the icy waters. The adjacent Hubbard Glacier dominates the landscape, and in season the humpback whales can be seen feeding and playing in the waters of Icy Strait Point. We arrive in Juneau, a hub for outdoor adventure and observing marine wildlife. The areas around town offer spectacular glacier viewing from such places as Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefields and Glacier Bay National Park. Overnight on board ship. Full board included.

Day 14 - SKAGWAY
Continuing along the coastline, we arrive in the historic boomtown of Skagway. During the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1800’s this remote town along the Inside Passage grew from a few tents to a city of 20,000 gold seekers. Echoes of those days can be heard along Skagway’s charming boardwalk lined with buildings that replicate the style and purpose of their historic inspirations. Overnight on boardship. Full board included.

Day 15 - CRUISING THE INSIDE PASSAGE
Today the ship begins its journey back south along the British Columbia coast. Take some time to relax on deck, or perhaps try your luck at the onboard casino. The pools are always warm and inviting and the available spa services (at additional cost) offer an afternoon of escape and relaxation. Overnight on board ship. Full board included.

Day 16 - VICTORIA
Victoria is a sight to behold from the water, the beautiful boardwalks of the Inner Harbour providing an oceanfront playground for visitors. Take some time and go ashore to enjoy the fresh food markets, restaurants and art galleries of this city that retains much of its British heritage. Overnight on board ship. Full board included.

Day 17 - SEATTLE / END OF TOUR
Arrive back in Seattle, check out and disembark the ship. Take your scheduled transfer to Vancouver International Airport. Breakfast included.
