Introduction
Kamloops is located in the heart of BC\'s Thompson region and an ideal stop when travelling through the Canadian Rockies. A four season resort, with stunning scenery, it is the perfect outdoor playground. With over 200 days of sunshine, fishing and boating activities are popular on the 100+ lakes and two major rivers, the canyons and forests are perfect for hiking, mountain biking and camping, and golf is also popular with over a dozen courses close by. In the winter, activities range from cross-country skiing and dog sledding to skiing and snowboarding on the nearby mountains.

Getting to and Travelling around
Kamloops is a 4 hour journey by car from Vancouver, and a 7 hour journey from Calgary. Car hire can be pre-booked through Travelpack and collected at the airport on arrival.
The Rocky Mountaineer train also stops overnight in Kamloops when travelling between Vancouver and Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper.
Best Time and Weather
Kamloops is a year round destination. In the summer, temperatures average 27ºC, ideal for the many outdoor activities available. In the winter,the city centre is fairly mild,with temperatures between -5ºC and -15ºC and snowfall of around 6\". The surrounding mountains receive heavy snowfall of 4 to 8 feet and temperatures drop to between -15ºC and -30ºC.
