First Nations Circle Tour West Canada
Enjoy some of Canada’s most iconic sights on this fun, interesting and often exciting self-drive holiday.
Day 1: Vancouver
Upon arrival pick up your rental car and drive into the city of Vancouver.

Day 2: Vancouver
The UBC Museum of Anthropology with displays on native culture is highly recommended. You may also wish to visit the North Shore home of Capilano Suspension Bridge, and the Skyride to the top of Grouse Mountain for panoramic views.

Day 3: Vancouver - Osoyoos (399 km)
Today travel through Manning Provincial Park. Make a stop in Hedley and visit the Snaza’ist Discovery Centr. The centre features interactive exhibits, photo gallery, and a theatre to watch a short film that tells the story of the people and mining in the Similkameen Valley “From Ochre to Gold”. From here you will notice the scenery changing dramatically as you approach the area of Osoyoos.

Day 4: FREE DAY Osoyoos
The south Okanagan region is an oasis of agriculture and holiday beaches at the country’s warmest lake. Spend the morning at the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre, then head across the parking lot for lunch at the Nk’Mip Cellars North America’s first aboriginal owned and operated winery. Their outdoor patio overlooking vineyards and Osoyoos Lake is the perfect spot.

Travelpack recommends: Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre (pronounced in-ka-meep)
The Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre has extensive indoor and outdoor exhibit galleries with hands on displays, education stations and two multi-media theatre experiences. Discover the fascinating stories of Canada’s only desert and share in the rich living culture of the Okanagan people. Don’t miss the guided tour at 10:00 am daily.

Day 5: Osoyoos – Cranbrook (445 km)
Today you will travel through the Kootenay region to Cranbrook. Passing through Creston, which overlooks a broad, fertile valley where the Kootenay River meanders between the Selkirk and Purcell mountains.

Day 6: Cranbrook - Lethbridge (305 km)
Today as you pass through the Crowsnest Pass into Alberta you may wish to stop at the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre to stretch your legs.

Travelpack recommends: Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump The interpretive centre at Head-Smashed-In blends unobtrusively into the ancient sandstone cliff. Its interior is made up of five distinct levels depicting the ecology, mythology, lifestyle and technology of Blackfoot peoples within the context of available archaeological evidence. Interpretation of these themes presents the viewpoints of both aboriginal peoples and European archaeological science.

Day 7: Lethbridge – Banff (339 km)
Today travel north bypassing Calgary into the resort town of Banff.

Day 8: FREE DAY Banff
Spend your day exploring one of the most beautiful townsites and national parks in the world. The popular Sulphur Mountain Gondola provides stunning views of Banff and the surrounding area. The Cave & Basin National Historic site offers a unique look at the history of Banff and the hot springs that led to the development of the resort.
