East Coast Explorer
From Washington to Miami, this journey along the seashores of the eastern states takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery in the USA, as you explore historical sights and enjoy the white sands of some of the most stunning beaches in the world.
DAY 1: Washington, DC
Arrive Washington, DC and take an orientation tour this afternoon to see sites such as Capitol Hill, Library of Congress, Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, the White House, and Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials. The evening, explore Dupont Circle. Bistros, bars and boutiques line the streets in this cosmopolitan neighborhood surrounded by D.C.’s international embassies.

DAY 2: Washington DC-Williamsburg, Virginia (152 mi/ 245 km)
Depart for Williamsburg. Here one will find the museums and battlefields of America’s Historic Triangle, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown as well as a selection of entertainment venues. Visit Colonial Williamsburg, the nation’s largest living history museum with 500 buildings on over 300 acres, reconstructed and restored to their 18th -century appearances; or have a day of pure fun at Busch Gardens, a European-themed park with 350 acres of rides, attractions, and live entertainment.

DAY 3: Williamsburg-Outer Banks, NC (130 mi/ 209 km)
A short drive takes one to some of the best beaches in the country, the 100 mile chain of barrier islands called the Outer Banks. Lounge on the beach or visit some of the sights. At Wright Brothers Memorial State Park see where the Wright Brothers first flew their powered airplane and at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, see the largest sand dune in the country. There’s a wide array of restaurants all along the beachfront from casual beach hang-outs to fine dining.

DAY 4: Outer Banks
This morning visit Roanoke Island Festival Park. Learn about early European exploration and board the Elizabeth II, a 69-ft. sailing vessel representative of those sailed in the 16thc. Then visit historic Manteo, a 4-block area filled with independently owned shops, eateries and businesses. After lunch, stroll through Elizabethan Gardens, designed as a memorial and complete with a collection of antique statuary. Also in the area find Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Freedman’s Colony, recognized as an important site in the National Underground Railroad to Freedom.

DAY 5: Outer Banks-Myrtle Beach, SC (311 mi/ 500 km)
Myrlte Beach is part of the Grand Strand, a chain of sixty miles of sandy white beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. The area\'s Intracoastal Waterway offers one plenty of water sport opportunities including scuba diving, fishing, kayaking and more. In the evening choose from a multitude of entertainment. The area has a wide variety of live shows, dinner theaters, concert halls and variety shows.

DAY 6: Myrtle Beach
Spend a full day at leisure. With over 100 golf courses along the Grand Strand, it’s easy to find a nearby course; take a salt-water deep sea fishing expedition; or take a dolphin watching cruise along the coast. The more adventurous can rent jet skis, go windsurfing, parasailing or scuba diving.

DAY 7: Myrtle Beach-Hilton Head Island (200 mi/ 322 km)
Take a leisurely drive through the Lowcountry to Hilton Head Island this morning. Hilton Head Island\'s natural beauty, spectacular seascapes and exceptional ecology exude a relaxed, warm, island environment. Despite development, much of the Island remains as it was when first sighted more than 300 years ago. After checking in to the resort hotel, enjoy some of the island’s miles of beaches, bike paths and nature trails.

DAY 8: Hilton Head Island
This morning take a tour of historic sites, art galleries, or board a dolphin watch cruise. Spend the afternoon in Sea Pines, the largest plantation on the island. Here one can take a leisurely horseback ride through its nature preserve, bicycle along the miles of paved bike paths, or have cocktails at Land’s End. In the evening, dine in Harbor Town. After dinner stroll around the marina’s quaint shops or climb to the top of the famous red and white striped lighthouse.

DAY 9: Hilton Head Island-St. Augustine, Florida (210 mi/ 338 km)
St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-established city and port in the U.S. Upon arrival, walk the city\'s historic center, lined with historic homes from various periods. One can also sip the waters at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park.

DAY 10: St. Augustine
Take one of the local guided tours to get an overview of the city or visit some of the area museums. The St. Augustine beaches boast miles of luxurious sand with beautiful weather year-round. Barrier islands naturally create the island waterway and miles of gorgeous coastline with many public beaches. Once can drive right on for a small fee.

DAY 11: St. Augustine- Orlando/Howey-in-the-Hills (144 mi/ 232 km)
Howey-in-the-Hills is a community developed by the Walt Disney company with extensive landscape, parks, trails and pathways and only minutes from Walt Disney World and its sister attractions. This afternoon, enjoy the amenities of the lakeside, boutique hotel. Take in a round of golf on its championship golf course or enjoy a treatment at its deluxe spa. This evening, stroll Town Center with its quaint lakeside promenade and renowned restaurants.

DAY 12: Orlando/Howey-in-the-Hills
Spend the day at Disney, Epcot Center or any of the other area attractions such as Universal Orlando, Discovery Cove or take a drive toward Cocoa Beach and tour the Kennedy Space Center, NASA’s launch headquarters.

DAY 13: Orlando/Howey-in-the-Hills-Miami (260 mi/ 418 km)
This morning set off for the sun, sand, surf and attractions of Miami. Greater Miami offers not only pristine white sand beaches and turquoise blue waters but a host of neighborhoods, each with its own culture and flavor. Spend the afternoon exploring South Beach. Sometimes called the American Riviera and Art Deco Playground it offers an eclectic mix of world class boutiques, galleries and stores. It\'s also a culinary hot spot for gourmet to casual cuisine and at night, South Beach comes alive with crowds partying to the wee hours.

DAY 14: Miami
After a morning of sun and a swim, why not rent a bicycle or a segway to explore the beaches; or take a tour of the famous Miami landmarks including a look at the many homes of the \"Rich & Famous\" on Star Island. This evening visit Little Havana where a vibrant Hispanic culture plays out amidst a backdrop of Little Havana\'s pulsating music, vibrant storefronts, unique art galleries and quaint restaurants.

DAY 15: Miami
Take time this morning to visit one of the eclectic neighborhoods just outside of Miami. Coconut Grove is a charming, bayside village filled with sidewalk cafes, galleries and boutiques. Tree-lined boulevards, and green spaces give Coral Gables its identity as \"The City Beautiful.\" Shoppers flock to fine boutiques along its’ Miracle Mile. Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
