Motorhome Itinerary
Day 1/2 > After enjoying an overnight in Houston/ Dallas, make your way to the Cruise America depot to collect your motorhome. You are heading for San Antonio which has so much to offer with amazing culture, history and a wide range of activities to suit all ages. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015 ensure you take in a visit to the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park which includes the world-famous 'Alamo'. 0197 miles from Houston to San
Antonio. * Visit the Space Center in Houston. Whilst in San Antonio take in the urban sanctuary which is the River Walk, which includes amazing restaurants and nightlife. If you happen to be in San Antonio over a weekend a visit to 'The Saga' light show is a must.


Day 3 > Today depart for the Caverns of Sonora taking in a side trip to the Texas Hill Country town of Fredericksburg, steeped in German heritage and history, visit the National Museum of the Pacific War or experience some wine tasting in the various excellent wineries in the area. From here drive to the Caverns of Sonora, these stunning caves are recognised to be one of the most beautiful in the world. 0 203 miles to Caverns of Sonora * Visit the Caverns of Sonora and experience an intimate guided tour of this hidden gem and the Caverns have their own RV park to spend the night.


Day 4 > Continue to Fort Davis via Fort Stockton where you can experience Old West history, with shopping, dining and entertainment. Whilst in Fort Davis explore the frontier military post of Fort Davis National Historic Site. 0 232 miles to Fort Davis * Take in the natural beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Centre and learn about the botanical gardens or visit the impressive McDonald Observatory to discover more about the night skies.


Day S > Continue your Texas exploration at leisure with a drive and overnight at the quirky town of Marfa. Surrounded by mountain ranges, weather-beaten desert and an alternative gateway to the Big Bend National Park. 0 21 miles to Marfa * Enjoy Marfa, this is the home of fun art installations, art galleries, the Chinati Foundation and 'The Marfa Lights.


Day 6 > Continue your drive to Marathon, the gateway to Big Bend National Park. Due to the clear night skies and lack of light pollution, this is an amazing location to star gaze and relax before your next venture into the Big Bend National Park. 0 56 miles to Marathon * Enjoy an evening outdoors star gazing.


Day 7/8 > En route to Big Bend discover Terlingua Ghost Town where you can experience stunning views of local landmarks including the Chisos Mountains.
Terlingua is also the venue for the annual Chilli Cook-Off which takes place on the first Saturday in November. Explore the Big Bend National Park / Big Bend State
Park and surrounding areas. Come close to nature, with over 450 species of birds, 75 species of mammals and 56 species of reptiles you are bound to encounter some wildlife whilst enjoying your hike, kayaking trip, horse ride or scenic drive. Spend a couple of nights at the Maverick Ranch RV Park where you can enjoy all of Lajitas Golf Resort amenities and activities; including the Agave Spa, Black Jack's Crossing Golf Club, Horseback Trail Rides, Equestrian Activities, Sport Clay Shooting, Cowboy Action, and much more. 0110 miles to Lajitas *Take in the splendid view from the porch in Terlingua Ghost Town. Enjoy the splendour of the Chisos Mountains, maybe hike the lost Mine Trail and enjoy the Ross Maxwell scenic drive to Santa Elena Canyon.


Day 9 > It is a long drive today as you head north and depart Lajitas to Guadaloupe Mountains National Park known for its extensive hiking and backpacking opportunities which are amongst the nations most pristine wilderness areas. 0 283 miles to Guadalupe Mountains National Park.


Day 10 > Spend some time exploring and enjoying Guadaloupe Mountains, National Park. Then it's time to head over the border and to the second-largest city in New Mexico, Las Cruces and Hacienda RV Resort, within walking distance of historic Old Mesilla (Billy the kid's hangout) and all the specialty shops and fine dining. 0 152 miles to Las Cruces * Enjoy hiking one of the trails this morning before setting off on your journey.


Day 11 > This morning explore downtown Las Cruces. The major city of New Mexico is your destination today and on the way, we're sure you will want to stop at 'Truth or Consequence' to find out why its name was changed from 'Hot Springs'. Be sure to visit the historic bathhouse district. If travelling during the first half of October, book WELL in advance as it's the hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque. 0 235 miles to Albuquerque * Visit Socorro for the Old San Miguel Mission dominated by the massive South Baldy mountain.


Day 12 > A longish drive today. You will want to break your journey at the Petrified Forest National Park and then continue through Cocino National Forest to Flagstaff. 0 310 miles to Flagstaff* Visit Sandia Peak and the world's longest aerial tramway.


Day 13 > Grand Canyon National Park, in Arizona, is home to much of the immense Grand Canyon, with its layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. If there is any place on Earth that puts into perspective the grandiosity of Mother Nature, it is here. 0 95 miles to Grand Canyon National Park * Visit the Grand Canyon! Along with it, down in it or hovering over it.


Day 14 > There's not much of Route 66 left "from Chicago to LA11 but one of the longest sections remaining will take you on the scenic drive through Peach Springs, on the edge of the Hualapai Indian Reservation to Kingman. 0 150 miles to Kingman * Visit Grand Canyon Caverns.


Day 15 > You will cross into Nevada today via the Hoover Dam. There is so much to see and explore in this amazing man-made structure that channels the mighty Colorado River. Finally, your adventure ends in Las Vegas this crazy fun city of neon, mega. stars and casinos! 0 120 miles to Las Vegas * Visit the Hoover Dam Museum and see how it was constructed - a colossal and costly feat of man's ingenuity.


Day 16 > After breakfast it is a short 20-mile drive to return your motorhome to the Cruise America depot in Las Vegas.
