Pondicherry, also known as Puducherry, is a charming coastal city with a rich history and a unique blend of French and Indian cultures. Pondicherry was a French colony until 1954, and its French influence is still evident in its architecture, cuisine, and culture. Paradise Beach and Promenade Beach are popular spots for relaxation. Head to visit the Aurobindo Ashram, which is located in the town of Auroville. Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a spiritual community (Ashram) located in Pondicherry. The Ashram grew out of a small community of disciples who had gathered around Sri Aurobindo after he retired from politics and settled in Pondicherry in 1910. On 24 November 1926, after a major spiritual realisation, Sri Aurobindo continued his spiritual work. At this time, he handed over the full responsibility for the inner and outer lives of the Sadhaks (spiritual aspirants) and the ashram to his spiritual collaborator, "The Mother", earlier known as Mirra Alfassa. Before the spiritual realisation written by Sri Aurobindo - "Less been created than grown around him as its centre" Today, Ashram has grown into a large and diverse community with nearly 1,600 members. Day 12: Periyar Alleppey (Backwaters & Coastal Delights) (Drive: 140 Kms 4/5Hrs. Approx.)
After an early breakfast at your hotel, drive to Alleppey boarding point and embark on the houseboat. Cruise through the narrow lake and canals. Enjoy the Backwaters on board. Lunch, dinner, and overnight on board the houseboat. The Backwaters of Alappuzha are one of the most popular tourist attractions in India, attracting millions of domestic and international tourists. Day 13: Alleppey Cochin (Drive: 52 Kms / 1.5 Hrs. Approx.)

Gateway to Kerala was once an important spice-trading route on the Arabian Sea, where Vasco da Gama landed in 1498 and boasted that he had come for souls and spices. Day 14: Kochis Cosmopolitan Flavors
Post breakfast, proceed for a half-day city tour of Kochi city, visiting Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Jewish Synagogue, and Mattancherry Palace / Dutch Palace. The Jewish Synagogue was built in 1568, almost 1500 years after the beginning of the Jewish connection with Kerala. It was built on the land, adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace, given by the erstwhile king of Cochin. The synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, was built by the Jewish community of Cochin. The Dutch Palace is also known as Mattancherry Palace, which was built and gifted by the Portuguese as a present to the king of Cochin around 1545. The palace was built to appease the king after they plundered a temple nearby. The landing of Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, at Kappad in 1498 was welcomed by the Kochi rulers. They were given the exclusive right to construct factories. The Portuguese repulsed the repeated attacks of the Zamorians, and the Cochin Rajas practically became vassals of the Portuguese. The influence of the Portuguese was supplanted by the Dutch, and they took over Mattancherry in 1663. Subsequently, the area was taken over by Hyder Ali and later by the British East India Company.
