There are 8 world Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. The 3 ancient and magnificent cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya were inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1982 followed by Galle, Kandy, and the Sinharaja Forest Reserve in 1988. The Golden Temple of Dambulla in 1991 and finally the Central highlandswereaddedin2010. These places of historical and natural significance are not to be missed for any visitor to Sri Lanka.

Having a history marked by four centuries of colonial rule, the country still manages to safeguard remnants from the past in their original grandeur. Some of them are renowned historic sites are the Galle Fort built originally by the Portuguese, Colombo Harbor and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa all confirm Sri Lanka’s ancient and colorful past. The rock temple of the Buddha, Gal Vihara is one of the finest examples of the religious heritage. Temples play an important part in everyday life and a visit to one should be a must for all visitors.

Today morning you will be do a city tour in Trincomalee.Trinco as it is commonly called has been a sea port since the days of the ancient Kings and one of the British Empires most important ports in Asia during the Second World War. Trincomalee, with its magnificent deep harbor, has for centuries been a magnet for merchants, adventurers and colonists. Most visitors head for the legendary Nilaveli Beach, or the far less developed, though equally lovely, beach of Uppaveli. It is best if you do your.Research and follow up with locals before you go snorkeling as some areas can be as deep as a thousand meters. Pigeon Island - It is one of the two marine national parks of Sri Lanka. The name derives from the Rock Pigeons that have colonized the island. Pigeon Island comprises of two islands, the Small Pigeon Island and the Large Pigeon Island. The Small Pigeon Island is surrounded by rocky islets. Jaffna is a city located in the northern tip of Sri Lanka. The city has a lot of influence from India as you can see this on the streets and in their food, which is different from central or south Sri Lanka. The public library is situated in the center of Jaffna and the clock tower is situated nearby which was built by the British. The public library is built in the Mogul style and was built in 1960. The clock tower was designed by Mr. Smither, the Government architect and was gift of Sir James Longden. Rest of the day at leisure.
