Fram with an underground tunnel.The centerpiece here is Gja, the firstship to navigate the whole of the Northwest Passage. There arebrand new historical exhibitionson the expeditions ofGja andMaud, of the airplanes N24 and N25 as well as of the airship Norge, John Franklin's legendaryexpedition and those of Henry Larsen and Eivind Astrup. We also present current issues facing the High North such as polar bears, ice melting, gas and oil etc. There is a 116 seats cinema showing a polar introduction movie every fifteen minutes.

Overview
Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002) gained worldwide fame when he crossed the Pacific Ocean on the balsawood raft Kon-Tiki in 1947. He followed this up with spectacular expeditions on the reed boats Ra and Tigris. At the Kon-Tiki Museum guests can see original vessels and up-to-date exhibits on Heyerdahls expeditions, including Kon-Tiki, Ra, Tigris, Easter Island, Fatu-Hiva, Tcume, Galapagos, a 30-metre cave tour, an underwater exhibit with a 10-metre model of a whale shark, Thor Heyerdahls library, Thor Heyerdahl in person, and Tiki pop culture.
