Bergen • Flåm • Aurland • Balestrand
Explore the Norwegian Fjords from Bergen to Balestrand, sailing like a Viking and cruising UNESCO-listed fjords. Enjoy the stunning Flåm Railway, waterfalls, charming villages, and scenic trails for an unforgettable mix of adventure, culture, and natural beauty.

Day 1: Experience the Norwegian Fjords by Boat and Train/Arrival Day
London Gatwick Airport To Bergen Airport
Meet your driver in the arrival hall, and go by private car from the airport to your accommodation in the city centre to relax and refresh after your journey. Spend your first evening at your leisure, exploring the stylish streets of Bergen and getting your bearings ahead of the first full day of your Norwegian adventure.

Day 2: Sail like a Viking
Today you will embark on a private sailing trip! Experience Bergen and fjord sailing on a Viking-style ship! Rigged with a square sail and built clinker-style, with overlapping wooden planks, the ship represents Norwegian ship design and building techniques that can be traced right back to the Viking era. This more modern version comes equipped with an engine and the latest safety equipment, meaning you can enjoy cruising Viking-style safely and in a variety of weather conditions. Take a trip back in time and join for an unforgettable experience. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the delights of Bergen.

Day 3: Into Fjord Country
After checking out, go to the train station and catch the morning train in the direction of Myrdal. After a scenic ride, disembark at Myrdal Station, the highest train station on the Oslo-Bergen line. Situated at 867 meters above sea level, there is no road connection to the station, which makes for a unique, adventurous feel. You will then connect to the famous FLM Railway. The Flåm Railway has been described as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world and is one of the leading tourist attractions in Norway. The journey features the finest aspects of the stunning scenery of Western Norway. You will take a one-way journey down to Flm Station. You will have a few hours to enjoy the fjords, embrace the culture, and get acquainted with the food & drink of Norway in this cosy setting. You will receive a taxi transfer to Aurland, and along the way, you will be taken to Stegastein viewpoint

Day 4: Fjord Cruise
Today you will experience the Aurlandsfjord and Nørdfjord (UNESCO World Heritage) in a fjord cruise from Flåm to Gudvangen (and back). Numerous wild and beautiful waterfalls and rivers characterise the landscape, crossing the rugged mountains and deciduous and coniferous forests on their way down to the fjords. Beautiful villages with a sustained cultivated landscape with remnants of old farms and mountain pastures, and unique cultural monuments, give an extra dimension to the dramatic natural landscape. The experience will take approximately 4 hours, and you can enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 5: Aurland to Balestrand by Ferry
Today you will travel leisurely by Ferry from Aurland to Bale strand. The journey takes about an hour to get to your destination, giving you plenty of time to explore your next destination. Balestrand is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjord, Norway's longest, deepest fjord. Bale strand has long been admired for endless fjord views, enormous mountains and beautiful wooden villas. The centre of Bale Strand is very small but charming. You can follow the interesting, well-marked cultural trail or one of the marked mountain hiking trails for an active afternoon or visit St. Olav's Church, which is said to have been the inspiration for Elsa's coronation in Disney's film Frozen. You'll deserve a refreshing drink after, so take yourself to the Cider House close to your hotel.

Day 6: Private boat trip
This Fjord excursion is a creative, authentic experience on a boat with a local. A guided and entertaining boat experience, a combination of sightseeing, storytelling, and fjord fishing, creates childhood memories. The experience is private and will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Day 7: Back to Bergen by Boat
You will head back to your start point by travelling along Norway's longest and deepest fjord: the Sognefjord, also known as the King of the Fjords. This 4-hour cruise to Bergen through the outer parts of the Sognefjord and along the coast, with islands, local fjords, tiny settlements & summer houses, passing through narrow straits. The boat takes you to the very heart of Bergen, close to the Fish Market and a short walk back to your hotel.

Day 8: Departure Day
Today, check out of your hotel in Bergen and head to the airport to catch your return flight home. We hope you have had an incredible time in Norway, and come away feeling as though your experiences have gone further than your average holiday, and that you've got a real insight into the culture and lifestyle in this spectacular part of the world.
