San Jose is a small capital, full of details and history, that can be easily visited by walking. Art Deco and neoclassical buildings that discreetly impose themselves as jewels inherited from visionary coffee growers can be found too. This is a city that contains the history of a very young society reflected in its parks, museums, theaters, art galleries, and diverse corners. This visit focuses on four foundations of Costa Rican society: Peace, Health, Environment, and Education. Founded in 1880, the Central Market has preserved its essence and is one of the best examples of Costa Rican culture and society. This visit will also be a very good introduction to familiarize yourself with the different tropical flavors. It is possible to find a great variety of tropical fruits and vegetables, medicinal plants, species, meats, fish and seafood, ornaments, and even animals. The Central Market is also known for its "sodas" (small informal restaurants). This visit is an excellent opportunity to meet the people who work in the market, to smell the aroma of a fresh tortilla, to taste a delicious guava jam or just to enjoy a freshly squeezed coffee.

Tortuguero was declared a national park on Sept. 24, 1970, and its boundaries were extended three times (1980, 1995, and 1998). Its area has increased from 64,701.45 hectares to 76,937. Of that area, 50,284 hectares are marine territory, and 26,653 are on land. Of the land area, 99 % is used for absolute protection of resources, and 1% is used for visitation facilities. The marine area is 100% designated for absolute conservation. Tortuguero National Park (TNP) is located in northeastern Costa Rican and is one of the country's main tourist icons, internationally recognized for its protection of the largest green turtle nesting beach in the Western Hemisphere.

➤Tue 05 Nov 2024: Shared Arenal Volcano National Park by the lake
The tour begins with a 20-minute drive from the hotel to the Peninsula section of the National Park, near Lake Arenal. Here you will begin a 1.5 km(1 mi) long walk along an easy trail for about an hour. Throughout the tour, you can enjoy excellent views overlooking Lake Arenal and the TilaranVolcanic Mountain Range in the observation bays that are found along the trail. At the end of the walk, you will have the opportunity to climb to the observation platform approximately 12 meters (40 ft) high for a closer and amazing view of the volcano and receive a full explanation of its history, activity cycles, and geological formation among other relevant details. At the end of the trail, you will enjoy a snack of fresh fruit before taking the boat for a tour along the forested shores of Lake Arenal and islets to try to find some animals.

The tour begins when the naturalist guide picks you up at your hotel in Monteverde. Then you will begin to discover the trails, there are several that you can choose. An alternative is to walk to the panoramic viewpoint of LaVentana, where you can witness the natural contrast made by the Continental Division, a geographical feature that traces the main mountain ranges of Costa Rica. In this place, you can experience the force of the trade winds loaded with moisture that blow from the Atlantic coast, and witness how they descend at great speed towards the Central Pacific and the coastal plains of northern Costa Rica. There are more than 500 species of birds, including the majestic Quetzal, 120 species of reptiles and amphibians, more than 3000 plants, and the largest variety of orchids in the world.
