Day 2: City Tour + Zipaquira's Underground Salt Cathedral + Lunch (B/L/-)

Todays tour starts with a panoramic drive to Zipaquir, Colombias salt mining capital at just under 50kmnorth of Bogot. Zipaquir is famous for its Salt Cathedral, which was carved inside an active salt mine formed 250 million years ago, and is home to the largest ever underground cross. This is a popular tourist destination as well as a place of pilgrimage for the local community. After visiting the Salt Cathedral, take a quick view of Zipaquirs old town, and return to Bogot, to visit La Candelaria, Bogots colonial center. Enjoy a stroll around Plaza de Bolivar, Bogots main square, flanked by prominent colonial and Republican-era landmarks like the Cathedral, the Congress Palace, the Cardinals Palace, the colonial churches of El Sagrario and San Agustin, the Independence House, the Palace of Justice and the City Hall. After La Candelaria, head east to Monserrate Hill, for exceptional panoramic views of Bogot. Continue to visit Bogots Gold Museum, worlds largest collections of pre-Columbian gold, and a must-see when travelling to Colombia. The tour ends with a visit to Boteros Museum. The works on display are all donated by Fernando Botero, Colombias most famous contemporary artist. His work is well-known for large, exaggeratedly voluminous figures. In addition to his work, his art collection is also exhibited.
Notes: Zipaquirs Salt Cathedral is not recommended for people who might be claustrophobic. The Gold Museum is closed on Mondays and Botero Museum is closed on Tuesdays. Also, please bear in mind when visiting churches and similar, women should not wear shorts or miniskirts and men should not wear shorts. Day 3: Chingaza Excursion (B/L/-)

Chingaza National Park is located near Bogota and is one of the most beautiful places for nature lovers, only 60 km from the city. Most of the territory of Chingaza has a paramo ecosystem that can only be seen in Colombia, above 3,000m. Chingaza is the habitat of the Andean bear called Oso de Ante Ojos, it is common to see white-tailed deer during the hikes. We will leave Bogota at 6:30 a.m. It will take at least 2 hours to reach the park entrance. After the registration procedure, we will continue to the refuge called Monteredondo. In this region, it is more common to observe deer. Later, we will continue to the Chuza reservoir (the largest in Cundinamarca and with the largest water storage capacity in Chingaza. We can choose between the different trails available depending on the physical condition of the explorer, the date and time we visit and the season, as some trails open or close depending on the season.
Notes: Full day tour. As you are going to a high mountain ecosystem, your health should be in optimal conditions, do not suffer from high blood pressure, heart problems, respiratory problems, and pregnant women, consult your doctor. Day 5: Pereira

This majestic valley is home to the wax palm, Colombias national tree and the tallest variety of palm tree in the world. These palms can measure up to 190 feet tall and live more than 120 years. Be amazed by the natural beauty and diversity of fauna and flora that you will encounter throughout the valley. Once you arrive, you will bewelcomed with a typical cocktail called canelazo. The Tejo game is probably one of the most authentic games in Colombian culture. The origin of Tejo ispre- Colombian, the Colombian native indigenous used to play Tejo as a ritual long before the Spaniards arrival in the 16th century. Back in the days the natives played it with discs made of gold and competed according to the legend for the love of a woman. One had to throw a golden disc as close as possible into a golden ring located at a certain distance. As it is the game with the longest tradition in Colombia it has become a national sport nowadays. The Tejo game today includes gunpowder and usually a lot of beer and the modern discs (tejo) are made of metal. The ring is in a corner filled with clay and the ring is decorated with papers filled with gunpowder this makes it the most explosive and funny game in Colombia. This tour is a perfect way to get closer to Colombian culture while drinking a few beers and having a lot of fun.

Day 8: Medellín

Day 10 -Walking Tour (B/-/-)

Discover Cartagenas rich history and beautiful colonial architecture where you will admire the old houses, stunning balconies and different little squares. You will know more about the culture of Cartagena and its interesting architecture as you walk through the different cobbled streets and plazas; each street has a different story to tell. You will also see this city alive, with its students, vendors, and all the people that live there. Passengers will pass by the main square called Plaza de Bolvar. In this beautiful plaza you will find many trees and a statue of the most important leader of South Americas Independence movement, the liberator Simn Bolvar. Initially it was used for military parades; however, after 1610 it was called Plazade la Inquisicin, because the Inquisition Palace was located on the west side of the plaza. Then you will pass by the Plaza de la Proclamacin, where the town gathered to support the declaration of independence on November of 1811. The tour then continues to the Plaza de San Pedro de Claver, a small plaza named after the saint that fought to help the slaves that came from Africa and were sold in the city. Next, you will visit the Plaza dela Aduana, the largest and oldest square where the important governmental and administrative buildings were located in the colonial times. Afterwards, visit the Plaza de los Coches. A triangular plaza surrounded by the old city wall, houses with Spanish colonial architecture and buildings with colonial arches at ground level. This arcade walkway is known as El Portal de los Dulces, a whole street full of stands that sell typical Colombian sweets. There you will also find the main entrance to the inner walled city, which was originally called Boca del Puente. This gateway was complemented years later with a Republican-style clock tower, which is known as a symbol of Cartagena. At the end of the tour, you will visit the Plaza Santo Domingo. This plaza is full of life and entertainment and it is a perfect place for social interaction and relaxation while enjoying the open-air restaurants that are located there. You will also see the church of Santo Domingo, a beautiful colonial church with as tunning facade.

This archipelago formed by coral reefs with small white sand beaches and crystal- clear waters invites us to appreciate the diversity of marine life found there. The small islands have been protected by the authorities since 1977, when they were declared a National Natural Park and are home to more than 1,300 species of fauna and flora indifferent ecosystems. The day begins at your hotel where you will be picked up and transferred to the port. The boat is scheduled to depart at 9:00 a.m., but we must be at the port from 8:00 a.m. and the trip to the island takes approximately 60 minutes. Upon arrival you will disembark and have time to explore the island or just relax. You can sit on the small beaches and relax, enjoy a stroll around the island, sign up for a diving course to explore the coral reefs, swim or take a relaxing massage session. The hotel has a beachfront bar where you can buy snacks, snacks and refreshments during the day. You will be returning to Cartagena between4:00 and 4:30 pm. The excursion includes lunch with a set menu.
NOTES: The Isla del Encanto excursion rate includes shared boat transfer, towel service (one per person),and typical lunch with set menu.
All additional activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, diving course, ecological walks, bike rides, massages, etc. must be requested and paid directly in cash at the island.
